Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, the MountainView Hospital Internal Medicine Residency Program is fully
accredited by the ACGME.
Is there a cutoff for the USMLE Steps?
The Program Director reviews all the applications to our program and evaluates
the applicants’ overall skills and professional achievements; a
decision to invite a candidate for an interview is based on several factors,
not only USMLE’s scores.
Do you consider Osteopathic Medical Graduates for your Internal Medicine program?
Do Osteopathic Medical Graduates need to take the USMLE’s in order
to be considered for an interview?
Where do the residents fulfill their continuity of care requirement?
Our current clinic is located in the medical office building conveniently
attached to our hospital. A brand new continuity clinic is scheduled to
open late 2016 which will be within 0.1 miles from the main hospital.
Will I have an opportunity to do research?
Some form of scholarly activity; research, QI or a case report is required
for graduation. We have a dedicated Research Director whose role is to
help develop research projects that align with each resident's particular
area of interest. In addition, residents are required to participate in
a QI project during their training.
I’ve heard of the Las Vegas Strip but do people really live in Las Vegas?
There is a common misconception that Las Vegans only live on or around
the Las Vegas Strip, but the truth is we have a real community here. With
a population of more than 2 million people, the majority of locals spend
most of their time off the strip enjoying an overall conservative lifestyle
in many of the beautifully developed master-planned communities in the
city and around our hospital.
